In addition to the topics shown above, advanced and intermediate students use the New York State Mandarin conversation textbook, which provides topics for students practice their speaking skills with.

Advanced- and high-intermediate students get an opportunity to apply their language skills in a way that is unique to our program: they have the option of functioning as in-class teaching assistants.  In this role, they use the Mandarin skills they have gained to guide and coach the intermediate- and beginner-level students through in-class activities.  They do this under the guidance of the primary classroom teachers.
